PS3 here.  Mainly play online so I'm not concerned with the other modes.  Online interface is much better, though I've noticed some lag.  Don't really understand the weapons except to see when the opponent has a fast CB.

I 100% hate it.
I got a PS3 last week with madden 08. I traded in all my ps2 stuff and decided to get the ps3...for the controller alone.
I played my first game and found out that the buttons are nothing like ps2. That wasn't the only thing that made me mad though: The game play also made me mad:
1> No slide protection all though the def can shift.
2> No formation audibles.
3> No def play maker shifts by individual player.

Ect....Ect.

This game has changed so much that I can not even be competitive anymore...And that was one of the few reasons I get the game anymore.

I am considering buying it for ps2 and playing it on my ps3...

Someone please tell me my $600 ps3 isn't a waste of time and money bc of madden

I game on muh ps3 too.  my psn name is the same as it is here.  I'll admit, the first week i played madden 08 i hated it because everything has changed from controls to not being able to call offensive formation audibles.  But I'm not one to give up on anything and I find myself loving the new gameplay and features offered by the ps3 version.

I agree.  The controls blow.  But it has some cool new feats.  Why can't EA understand that we want the ps2 controls with improved gameplay when we buy the ps3??  Doesn't seem hard to figure out to me...

I to was disappointed with the ps3 version after playing the ps2 version. The ps2 version was not that different from 07 but the ps3 version is a lot different. Besides the fact that I am still trying to get use to the controls the gameplay is a little more realistic. I think all the maddens have some unrealistic play in them but I can no longer throw the 80 yard bombs or break off with the monster runs or just run the same play all the time. The AI is more realistic and smarter. You can try throwing the same pass play or try the same run over and over but you better be ready for their reaction. The passing game is very hard. You have to read defenses and watch for the open receiver in about 3 seconds. If not you are getting off your butt with a big loss. If you don't wait for your blocks to materialize in the running game you will not see much gains. Lets hope EA keeps the smart AI and improves on some other things.
All in all the game takes some getting use to but its gettin better.

I agree with you guys . . as for me the new menu structure feels clumsy, both during the game and during menu navigation in franchise mode. The play selection interface has undergone significant change as well. You have four plays to choose from at a time, so there are more button presses in the limited time between plays to select your play–not a positive step. The onscreen presentation reminds me of the ancient PC interface instead of the slick console game interface we all know and love from the PS2 version of Madden.

At first the new controls suck, but after some hard adjustments I think they are better.  The loss of Off. line adjustments really sucks.  I miss being able to practice in the franchise mode since it is a different team I am trying to play with.  All in all (after the new patch) is is finally a good game.  But EA needs to make a much stronger showing with 09!
